Hiss and Noise on the Line

If you experience hiss and noise while on the call, first of all, you should check if the main base of the phone (that one connected to the phone socket) is connected through an ADSL mirofilter.

An ADSL microfilter

A microfilter is a device that allows broadband to work at the same time as your telephone service. Without microfilters you may get problems with your broadband or experience noise on your telephone line.

Normally, you'll need a microfilter for every telephone socket in your home, even if your broadband modem or router is connected only to one of the sockets.

Here is how you connect your phone via a microfilter:

The second socket on the microfilter is used for a broadband router, though if you connect your phone to a different socket in your house, where the router isn't present, just leave it not connected.
